Barbara Bailey Hutchison grew up in Detroit. While an Art major, at Michigan State University,
Barbara began singing in coffeehouses and clubs. Her voice may sound familiar to people because she has done so many jingles
for major companies like Heinz, Hallmark, and McDonalds. Barbara started her own record label, Dakota Records, on which she
has recorded eight of her fifteen CDs. She has won many awards...including a Grammy Award in 1995, for Best Children's Recording
for "Sleepy Time Lullabys".
In addition to her Grammy Award, Barbara has also won several awards for her live shows.
She offers a variety of shows including her Women's History Month Show, her Christmas Show, and her Children's Show. Barbara has
been blessed to be able to share her talents with audiences in many amazing places including the United
States, Thailand, Korea, Japan, The Philipines, and even The White House.
Barbara is not only a singer, but a wonderful writer. She writes, or co-writes, a lot of
the songs that she records. Barbara plays acoustic guitar and keyboards. Barbara's music is very real, true to life, honest,
sincere, and at times, funny. Her music can make you think, pull at your heartstrings, or tickle your funny bone. Her voice,
and music, have been compared to that of Shawn Colvin, Jewel, Carole King, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Joni Mitchell.
Barbara lives outside Nashville with her husband Chris.
